Decide how the film should look
A director of photography, often called a DP, helps turn your idea into images. Share a script, a short description or films you like. Explain whether you want a relaxed interview, a polished company film or something more dramatic. This gives the DP a clear starting point.
Plan around the actual location
Photographs of the room help the DP plan camera positions and lighting. Include windows, ceiling height and the space available around the subject. A visit before the shoot may be useful for a larger production. Discuss whether you also need a camera assistant or lighting crew.
Agree how the DP will work with your team
Tell us who is directing and who can approve the picture on the day. Include any preparation meetings and location visits in the request. If your editor needs particular cameras or recording settings, share those before equipment is booked.
